BabelData

babeldataBabelData will develop methods, techniques and algorithms to provide a set of services able to create, manage and reuse multilingual ontologies and data.

In the development of the Semantic Web of the future, multilinguality has emerged as one of the major challenges. Despite considering knowledge processing on the Semantic Web as being inherently independent of any natural language, the interaction between humans and machines will remain language-dependent.

Language is the means humans have to communicate information about facts or data, and this is preferably done in their own language. Therefore, in the Future Semantic Web the generation of and access to semantically structured and linked data will have to be done in a multilingual environment.

The aims of this project will be achieved by focusing on the following aspects:

  1. Automatic ontology localization
  2. Multilingual mappings between ontologies expressed in different languages
  3. Models, methods, techniques, and tools for the generation of multilingual Linked Data
  4. Services for integrating multilingual ontologies and multilingual Linked Data
