Senior Research Engineer position at the Ontology Engineering Group (UPM)

Dr Inventor (FP7-611383) is a three-year European project starting in January 2014. The aim of this project is to develop a personal research assistant, utilizing machine-empowered search and computation to bring researchers extended perspectives for scientific innovation by informing them of a broad spectrum of relevant research concepts and approaches, by assessing the novelty of their research ideas, and by offering suggestions of new concepts with unexpected features for new scientific discovery. In this project, the role of OEG-UPM is to provide support for ontology learning from scientific texts, ontology matching between the learned ontologies for similarity assessment among research papers and their associated materials, and recommendation of appropriate scientific content for a given research idea.

We are offering one senior research engineer position in our group, which will be initially proposed for one year, with the possibility of renewal for two more years subject to a positive evaluation of the selected candidate after the first year. The selected candidate is expected to start working at OEG-UPM from mid-January 2014, and will join other members of the team helping them in the development of ontology learning and matching algorithms and techniques. This is a full-time position with an annual salary that will range from 28K€ to 35K€, depending on the candidate's experience and fit for the job.

Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Computer Science or relevant experience in the development of innovative solutions. Research and/or development experience in Java programming and in the areas of ontology engineering, ontology alignment and natural language processing will be positively considered, as well as a good knowledge of English.
